River Valley seeks to be a church…
That is in awe of God because of who He is and because of the planet and people He made, is making, and will make.
That is driven by the gospel or the good news of who Jesus is and what HE did. He is resurrected ruler of the universe. Sin, Satan, death and Hell have been defeated by HIM through his cross and resurrection. God made a world. We ruined it. God will make a new world again. Jesus through His resurrection is the first evidence of this new world. Trust in Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit is the new world present in God’s people in the middle of this ruined but redeemable world.
That makes disciples. We want to know God and our new identity as sons and daughters of God by faith in Jesus and through the power of the indwelling Spirit. We want to help people grow into a deeper relationship with God and a love
for their brothers and sisters and neighbors.
Where everything we do clearly supports our goal of making disciples. Relationships are more important than programs. Making disciples includes going after those who don’t know Jesus and not just hanging out with other Christians and gaining information.
That values God’s Word more than human opinion. We want to love God’s never-changing truth in the midst of an ever-changing world.
That is relational, seeking to live in deep and transparent community with God and each other.
Where chains of addiction are broken.
Where grace or one-way-love drives everything, never guilt or manipulation.
Where Jesus is taken boldly to the world. God’s mission isn’t a special project but a Son and sons & daughters who love their neighbor. This includes church planting, a global view of missions, and a heart to serve our neighborhoods and community.
That is a snapshot of the Kingdom of God, an intergenerational family with a diverse mix of people. People of all cultures and of life situations must be loved and valued, because Jesus reconciles to Himself ALL types of people.
WE WANT TO SEE GOD MAKE DISCIPLES WHO KNOW HIM AND MAKE HIM KNOWN!
